That was something that was explicitly stated in the manga before, was that with Shikai one needed to say the name of one’s sword, while with Bankai, all one needed to say was “Bankai.” True, the Bankai usually has a name of it’s own, but that’s not required. What’s required is for the Shinigami to say “Bankai.”
He is happy that no one can see it because he doesn’t want Ikkaku to know that his Soul Slayer is Kidou based. 11th squad guys make fun of Kidou based Soul slayers, as they all have direct attack based ones, so he doesn’t want them to know. Sleet is right. they say Bankai when they use Bankai.
yeh its not bankai, point mainly is that we the readers havent seen this shikai because he is obsessed with the beauty of his zankpaktou and of himself not to reveal all the techniques or skills he possesses unless on the verge of defeat,like other vice captains.
I assure that Yumichika will win! I really want Cool Horn to die! I can’t stand to see his power and his outfits! It make my stomach hurts. It is really gross! Hurry up, Yumichika to kill him right now! ecch! >_<
I wish everyone will stop thinking that everyone has a bankai….Bankai is really rare in soul society if you think about it….only the most skilled have achieved it through the real process….urahara, ichigo, and renji are the only exception. I dont think that all the vice captains have a bankai…that doesnt mean that they arent elite though…
Since Shuhei is not only alive, but conscious, it’s possible Cool Horn will survive and keep fighting, provoking a bankai (please??). However, a character like that has limited appeal. Yumichika probably held back a little against his fellow shinigami, won’t show such mercy to an ugly arrancar, and will drain him to death.
On that note, I agree with Mr. X. Ikakku’s bankai has been shown already, so he’ll just chop up his enemy with it. Shuhei hasn’t even shown shikai, so he’ll probably beat his opponent with that that. MAYBE we’ll see Izuru Kira’s, but who knows? Kubo seems to like to have his wins be less obvious. Who expected Kenpachi to beat Nnoitra simply by using two hands on his sword? I HOPE we see at least one new bankai, but most likely the wins will be by clever tactics, maneuvers, and techniques.

The Bankai that I’d really like to see is Urahara’s. After he said that his Bankai wasn’t suited to training with allies, I thought ‘OMG! IT MUST BE KICKASS!’
Plus, Yoruichi hasn’t been shown using even a sealed Zanpakuto, so I’d like to see her use Shikai at least, although seeing her Bankai would be nice.
I’ve just this second realised exactly how dirty saying ‘I’d like to see Yoruichi’s Bankai’ is. Lol.

It is -NOT- bankai, if it was , he would have said bankai. It’s simply a second stage / ability of his zanpaktou.
I cant wait to see Hisagai Shuuhei fight. We havent even seen his zanpaktou’s released form, let alone a bankai. I think he’s got a bankai though.

So Yumichika finally got to show visually what his zanpaktou’s ability was instead of just showing the beginning like in the fight with Shuhei:
